Heritage Popcorn is an ancient variety of popcorn. The Native Americans considered it sacred and consumed it for its health benefits.
On nearly every diet program one of the top suggestions for a snack is popcorn. Here’s why…
Popcorn is:
- Low in fat.
- High in fiber.
- Carbohydrates are the only source of energy for your brain and nervous system
- Low fat carbohydrates have been found to trigger the production of serotonin, the natural chemical your body produces to balance your mood and control your appetite. These recent findings have lead to the book “The Serotonin Power Diet” (Wurtman PhD & Marquis MD)
- Colored popcorn contains healthy antioxidants. Today we are learning that the red, purple and blue color of fruits and vegetables is due to anthocyanin, a well-known antioxidant. Antioxidants help guard against free radicals, which can cause heart disease, premature aging, Alzheimer’s and cancer. Heritage popcorn contains these healthy antioxidants even after popping.
At this time we are releasing our purple variety we call Rosita. Rosita is contains the highest amount of antioxidants of our colored popcorns. Look for Shaman’s Blue, a dark blue kernel, and Ruby Red, a kernel the color of burgundy wine with more of a nutty taste in the future.
